Born in 1997, the Whole Earth Blazar Telescope (WEBT) is a network of optical, near-infrared, and radio observers who in concert have the capability to obtain continuous, high-temporal-density monitoring of blazars.
Membership in the WEBT will be open to any observatory which wishes to join and support the purpose of the WEBT by participating in its campaigns. Membership is automatically obtained by this participation with scientifically useful observations.
oting members are the charter members and other members who have advanced the purpose of the WEBT by virtue of their outstanding contributions and have asked for and received voting membership by a two thirds majority of the voting membership.
Voting membership may be revoked by a two thirds majority of the voting membership. Revocation may be based upon inactivity or actions deemed to be harmful to the WEBT and its stated purposes.
