Gaia Day

A story inside the two billion stars six years after launch

Friday December 20, 2019, 9.00 am

Gaia is an ambitious ESA mission to chart a three-dimensional map by means of unprecedented astrometric, photometric, and spectroscopic measurements of almost two billion stars in our Galaxy and throughout the Local Group.

The success of Gaia is clearly demonstrated by the 2700 papers published since launch and by the 1000 papers published in 2019, thanks to the second Gaia data release delivered in 2018.

To celebrate Gaia’s sixth birthday in space, INAF-OATo has organized an event in collaboration with INFINI.TO. The Gaia Day will be held at the Turin Planetarium on 20th December 2019.  The full program is available at the following link.

Due to the limited availability of seats, the participation is reserved for the Gaia collaborators by invitation only.
