Abstract
SHARK-NIR is an exoplanet-hunter instrument providing high-contrast coronagraphic imaging, dual band imaging and low resolution spectroscopy in the near infrared at the Large Binocular Telescope in synergy with SHARK-VIS and LMIRCam. After first light in January 2023 and four commissioning runs, a total of five early science runs have been performed, in which the instrument started to fully exploit its scientific potential.
In this presentation I will give an overview of the first two years of observations with SHARK-NIR, detailing both commissioning and early science phases and presenting the first scientific results and lay a foundation for the future usage of the instrument and its role in the search and characterization of exoplanets.
